evertonSimon Jordan has defended the work of Sean Dyche at Everton by insisting the club would have already been relegated if he was not in charge.

Dyche dramatically kept Everton in the Premier League last season after turning around the Toffees’ fortunes upon replacing Frank Lampard.

Everton dropped into the bottom three on Tuesday (30 January) following a 0-0 draw at Fulham, but only as a result of their 10-point deduction.

With Dyche now feeling the heat in the Goodison Park dugout, Jordan is adamant he is the perfect manager for the job.

“Ironically, despite the travails of Everton, he has his highest win rate as a manager at Everton,” he said on talkSPORT [30 January, 12:43].

“Put aside what he’s done in other jobs, he has his highest win record despite the car crash that is Everton.

“He’s the perfect fit for the job and he’s a better manager than he’s being shoehorned into in fixing Everton’s problems.everton

“He’s done a decent job at Everton and they’d be gone if not for him.”

Turn things around

Dyche deserves huge praise for what he has managed in his 12 months at Goodison Park.

The past year has been all about fighting fires, and unfortunately that looks as though it will continue to be the case for a while yet.

Amid all the takeover uncertainty, points deductions and a second financial sanction, former Watford and Burnley boss Dyche had managed to keep the Toffees afloat.

However, dropping into the relegation zone has changed the mood slightly around Goodison Park.

Everton’s form has been underwhelming for a while now, even if a point away from home can be considered a good result.

The brutal truth is that certain fans will be against Dyche given Everton are struggling for wins and are now in the bottom three.

As he has already showed this season, though, Dyche is more than capable of turning things around. That is, after all, what he does best.
