Newcastle’s forgotten man set for first start in 13 months as Eddie Howe confirms U21 appearance
Emil Krafth will make his first appearance in 13 months tonight, with the Swede set to feature in the U21s Premier League 2 clash with Nottingham Forest.
Speaking to the press this morning, Eddie Howe confirmed that the right-back will feature for our second string this evening after over a year on the sidelines.
The 29-year-old was stretchered off in our Carabao Cup win over Tranmere Rovers in August last year, suffering a serious ACL injury. However, after a long rehabilitation programme, he’ll return to competitive action for our U21s, who take on Nottingham Forest in tonight’s 7pm kick off at Northumberland FA.Asked for an injury update during today’s press conference, Howe said: “Emil will play for the U21s tonight. It’s really, really good to see him come back and hopefully do well today.”
Hopefully he comes through the game OK and can help our young lads to victory, with our U21s currently 18th in the PL2 after one win, one draw and three defeats in their opening five league games.
All the best, Emil!
