Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise is set to join Bayern Munich for £50million this summer.

The 22-year-old attracted interest from Bayern, Chelsea and Newcastle United after scoring 10 goals in 19 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign. All three clubs were given permission to talk to the player’s representatives earlier this month.

Despite Chelsea previously agreeing personal terms with Olise last summer and pushing to agree a deal once again this transfer window, the winger has opted against staying in the Premier League in favour of joining Bayern Munich.

Bayern are set to pay £45million plus £5million in add-ons to Palace for the winger, who has agreed personal terms on a five-year deal.

According to The Telegraph, Olise’s preference of Bayern Munich over Chelsea or Newcastle is due to the draw of Champions League football. Bayern consistently qualify for Europe’s elite club competition while Newcastle missed out on Europe entirely despite playing in the Champions League last season.

Despite winning the competition in 2021, Chelsea have not qualified for the Champions League in each of the last two seasons.

Born in London, Olise has represented France at Under-18 and Under-21 level and is still eligible to play for the national teams of France, England, Nigeria and Algeria as he’s yet to make his senior international debut.

Olise previously played for Chelsea at academy level before making his senior debut at Reading and moving on to Crystal Palace in 2021. Despite an injury-hit campaign, Olise still managed to reach double figures for Palace in what was his best scoring season to date.
