MLB Network - The Dodgers are reportedly trading for veteran CF Kevin Kiermaier. | FacebookAfter playing one position player short for two games, the Dodgers activated trade deadline acquisitions Kevin Kiermaier and Amed Rosario ahead of this weekend’s series against the A’s. One active roster spot was already cleared with Miguel Vargas getting traded to the White Sox on Monday, and on Thursday catcher Hunter Feduccia was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Kiermaier started and played six innings in center field on Friday night in Oakland, and was hitless in two at-bats with a strikeout. Amed Rosario had a pinch-hit double in the seventh inning on Friday, and played the final two innings at shortstop.

Feduccia got called up to the majors for the first time last Saturday in Houston when Freddie Freeman was placed on the family emergency list. Feduccia didn’t play in any of the first three games in which he was active, but did finally get a chance on Wednesday night in San Diego. He pinch-hit with two outs in the ninth inning, and flew out to end an 8-1 loss to the Padres.

Feduccia is the 216th non-pitcher to make his major league debut with the Dodgers since the team moved to Los Angeles in 1958. That’s an average of about 3.22 non-pitcher debuts per season; this year there have been two, with Feduccia joining Andy Pages (April 16).MLB Network - The Dodgers are reportedly trading for veteran CF Kevin Kiermaier. | Facebook

On trade deadline day Tuesday, the Dodgers also designated pitchers Gus Varland and Nick Ramirez for assignment to clear 40-man space. On Friday, those roster loops were closed. Varland was claimed off waivers by the White Sox and simultaneously optioned to Triple-A Charlotte. Ramirez cleared waivers and was sent outright to Oklahoma City.
