Sheffield Wednesday will be determined to get back to winning ways against QPR this weekend after a poor start to the campaign.
Sheffield Wednesday started as they would have hoped to go on with a thumping 4-0 win in the Hillsborough sun against Plymouth Argyle on the opening day.
However, three defeats in three Championship games have followed since. No goals have been scored and nine have been conceded, dampening spirits in the Steel City and quietening early hopes of a big year for the Owls.
There’s still plenty of time for Danny Rohl’s side to come good on their pre-season ones to watch tag though. Plenty of new players are settling in and it will be hoped that better days are to come, starting this weekend against QPR when Championship football returns.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl is sure to be weighing up changes regardless, and one that could prove popular would be giving summer signing Olaf Kobacki a shot in the starting XI.
Waiting for a chance
Signed from Arka Gdynia after a starring spell in his native Poland, Kobacki will be determined to prove his talents at a higher level in the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday.
So far though, his only two starts have come in Carabao Cup triumphs over Hull City and Grimsby Town, two games in which he has shown sparks of his talent despite not registering a goal or an assist.
In the Championship though, the 23-year-old has played only 43 minutes of action across two substitute appearances. Kobacki was unused in defeats to Sunderland and Leeds United with the likes of Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba the preferred options out wide.
