Leicester boss Steve Cooper is fighting to convince Foxes stars after just THREE Premier League games at the helm.
The former Nottingham Forest and Swansea head coach was appointed at the King Power Stadium in the summer. He replaced promotion-winning boss Enzo Maresca, who completed a £10m move to Chelsea ahead of the new campaign.
But it has been a sticky start for Cooper with his new club. Leicester are winless in the league, with their only victory this season coming in the Carabao Cup against Tranmere Rovers.
While results have been unconvincing so far, it appears that Cooper has struggled to get a few players onside with his way of working. It has been suggested that players have found it tricky to adapt to his hands-off approach in
As per The Sun, stars had become accustomed to Maresca’s way of working – the Italian regularly telling players exactly what to do in most aspects of the game. Cooper meanwhile prefers to gauge players’ opinions.
He has reportedly asked his charges about tactical aspects of the game, as well as potential signings, something that has left members of the squad ‘nonplussed’. The situation is not yet worrying for club bosses though.
Cooper is said to be relaxed about the issue and was expecting some slight teething issues, particularly given the contrast in styles between him and Maresca. Leicester will continue their hunt for their first win of the season against Crystal Palace this weekend – and Cooper insists players remain on side.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: “We can definitely improve results. We could have got more points. The last thing we want is to be applauded off for a good performance but without any points. We want results. We have to own that, the staff, and the players, particularly the senior players.”
