Leeds United return to Elland Road action against Coventry City this afternoon and David Prutton is predicting a very close game.
Leeds will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Championship after last week’s 2-0 victory at Cardiff City, in which Prutton got his score prediction spot on.
Coventry is the start of a very tough run of fixtures over the next few weeks with away trips in quick succession at Norwich City and Sunderland to follow. Sheffield United is the first game after the international break.
Despite Coventry’s poor start to the season, Leeds cannot afford to take their opponents lightly. The Sky Blues were one of just four teams who went unbeaten against Daniel Farke‘s side last season.
Farke has already confirmed Leeds will be without Manor Solomon for the game, while Pascal Struijk’s inclusion will be decided late.
At Elland Road, Leeds are very much the favourites heading into this one and speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Essential EFL‘ Podcast, Prutton has backed his former side to get the job done.
He said: “I will go Leeds to win 2-1.”
Predicted Leeds XI to face Coventry at Elland Road
Farke isn’t expected to make too many changes despite his lengthy injury update on Thursday afternoon.
The biggest question mark is against the availability of Struijk. With two away games to come next week, perhaps it would be wise to rest him here, considering his injury issues in 2024.
If that is the case, it is likely that Ethan Ampadu will be forced to drop into the back four, with Max Wober also injured and potentially needing surgery.
