If Jeremy Swayman doesn’t re-sign with the Boston Bruins by the time the 2024-25 regular season gets underway, a report says the amount of money offered will drop
The 2024-25 NHL regular season is just days from getting underway, and the Boston Bruins and their number one goaltender remain at a stalemate when it comes to signing a new contract. Daily Faceoff says Swayman has already turned down an eight-year offer with a $7.8 million AAV, and a new report states that offer is likely to drop if a new deal isn’t signed before the regular season begins.
Boston Bruins President Cam Neely created a stir recently when he said Jeremy Swayman has ‘$64 million reasons’ why he should be playing right now. The move was a bit of a shock as contract negotiations are usually kept under wraps.
While many feel Neely shot himself in the foot with the remarks, The Sick Podcast says Jeremy Swayman shouldn’t expect to get a better offer from the team. In fact, the amount is likely to drop once the regular season starts.
There are suggestions that Jeremy Swayman isn’t happy with the way everything has gone down, and may request a trade out of Boston. If this report is accurate, it seems like a forgone conclusion. If Swayman wasn’t willing to accept $7.8 million a year for eight seasons, he’s not going to take less. The two sides have until Dec. 1 to work it out, or Swayman is ineligible to play this season.
