West Brom have an opportunity to switch focus away from on-pitch matters coming up with the latest international break.

West Brom might have lost their last two games, but their start to the season has been strong.

The Baggies had gone unbeaten before defeats in quick succession. They were defeated by Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend before a Hayden Hackney goal condemned them to another loss against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

Carlos Corberan and co will have a chance to get back to winning ways before the international break with Millwall coming to The Hawthorns. However, those at the club should have one eye on some other matters while there are no games.

One subject that may crop up is contracts, and that of West Brom mainstay Darnell Furlong should be a focus for the club hierarchy.

A starting XI mainstay

It’s now been over five years since West Brom brought Furlong to the club. The Luton-born defender came through the QPR academy and earned himself a move to The Hawthorns in the summer of 2019.

He’s sampled Premier League and Championship football since then, registering 10 goals and 11 assists in 209 outings for the Baggies. Eight of those outings have come this season with Furlong playing every minute in the second-tier.

Furlong played in all 46 Championship games last season too, sitting out of the starting XI for only two. That level of availability has made him a highly reliable player for Corberan.
