The FA are still yet to announce Gareth Southgate’s successor, with Lee Carsley currently the interim England manager. He won his first two Nations League games, and is now set to take charge of two more this month.

The former Everton midfielder appears to be the favourite right now, but there are other options.

Immediately after Southgate left his post, Eddie Howe was linked with the England job. Since then, various pundits have called on him to leave Newcastle United and take charge of the Three Lions.

Jamie Carragher has backed Howe to become England manager on multiple occasions. Elsewhere, Gary Neville believes Howe should take the England job, almost hinting that he has achieved all he can at St James’ Park.

That certainly is not the case, and Newcastle United fans are desperate for Howe to continue in his role on Tyneside.
