Jeremy Swayman and the Boston Bruins are in an awful contract negotiation that has completely set the NHL world on fire.
Now, there is even talk about which teams could realistically trade for Swayman if it really came down to that. Moreover, it feels like there is some real animosity between Swayman and the Bruins franchise as a whole. His agent Lewis Gross has stepped in, and there is no denying that there is something fishy happening in the negotiating room.
Having said that, the Swayman situation has just reached an unfortunate milestone that really puts all of this into perspective. He is now the only unsigned RFA remaining in the entire NHL. Simply put, things are not looking up for the Bruins starting goaltender.
One has to wonder what is going to be next for Swayman here. He can’t really do much except for wait until he gets a better deal. Of course, he could accept what is currently on the table, but he has made it clear he doesn’t want to do that. Instead, he is hoping to completely reset the goalie market.
This has been one of the most heated negotiations we have seen in some time. The only that rivals it is what William Nylander did with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Interestingly enough, Lewis Gross is also his agent. Really makes you think.
