On the final day of the transfer window, Manchester City finalized the acquisition of Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes for £53 million, but after Cole Palmer left for Chelsea in a £42.5 million deal, they made an effort to close a late, high-value transaction.

Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace was not acquired despite a last-minute £60 million approach from Manchester City.

On the last day before the transfer market closed, City turned to the recently-capped England player. The player was in advanced negotiations with both clubs and is thought to have cherished the chance to work with Etihad manager Pep Guardiola.

The Premier League winners were disappointed that they were unable to complete the last-ditch transaction because Palace would not lower their asking price of £80 million.

After the club turned down a deal earlier in the transfer season for Michael Olise, another superb forward, Palace supporters will be happy. After staying at Selhurst Park, Eze is now set to receive a new contract.

After selling Cole Palmer to Chelsea for £42.5 million, City decided to make the last-minute move for Eze. However, when the £60 million bid was turned down and Palace refused to decrease their asking price, City was at their wits’ end. This happened two weeks prior when City first considered Eze before choosing Portugal international Matheus Nunes from Wolves.

Guardiola, City’s manager, was resting in Barcelona from back surgery, but it didn’t stop City from dominating Fulham 5-1 on Saturday.

“Erling was born to score goals,” assistant manager Juanma Lillo remarked after Erling Haaland’s hat-trick in the second half. “It won’t be a surprise if he gets the same numbers as last season.”

The usual sky blue color of the Puma home shirt is present, but there are precise stripes in a somewhat darker shade of blue across the front that are modeled after the walkways at Etihad Stadium. The shirt commemorates the year when City moved from Maine Road to their new location.

But even if he doesn’t, it’s irrelevant. He excels at supporting other players, and today he provided one assist.

He is significant to the other players. Not only about scoring goals, either. More than just if he scores, other statistics also fascinate me. Before he arrived here, I always considered both his intelligence and his goal-scoring ability.
