Liverpool have made a move to wreck Tim Steidten’s plan to bring brilliant Brazilian Andre Trindade to West Ham.

And it’s safe to say fans of both Liverpool and West Ham soon saw why.

The German oversaw one of West Ham’s best transfer windows for years with the arrivals of Edson Alvarez, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Mohammed Kudus and James Ward-Prowse.

Liverpool did not do too badly in the summer window either of course.

But ask any West Ham fan and they’ll tell you when Steidten gets on his jet he rarely comes back empty han

If Jurgen Klopp has his way, though, Steidten’s latest trip abroad may ultimately prove fruitless.

Because Liverpool have made a move to wreck Steidten’s plan to bring brilliant Brazilian Andre Trindade to West Ham.

According to one of Hammers News’ sister sites in Brazil, Vamo Fluminense, West Ham – and specifically Steidten – are one of the clubs to have identified Fluminense midfield ace known as Andre as a January signing.

The Hammers had a representative – believed to have been Steidten or one of his scouts – at the Maracana on Saturday to watch the Brazilian side’s first ever Copa Libertadores win over Boca Juniors.

But so too did Liverpool according to the report.

It is claimed both Liverpool and West Ham made offers for Andre in the summer, but were rebuffed. That tallies with the fact Steidten was in Brazil looking a several targets including a number of strikers.

The Reds are said to have seen a £25m bid for the 22-year-old in the last window.

This new report from our sister site claims the interest remains from both clubs following Saturday’s scouting trip. And it states ‘Andre is unlikely to continue at Fluminense next year’ with a move expected in the January window.

A defensive midfielder by trade, it is arguable that Liverpool actually need Andre more than the Hammers.

Indeed in that respect he may actually get more game time at Anfield.

But either way Liverpool will clearly be a bigger draw for a player, especially as they look likely to return to the Champions League next season.

So this is bad news for West Ham and Steidten.
