Tottenham’s mestro has been ruled out for several months after a scan revealed that he had fractured his shoulder.
Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven’s injured hamstring will be scanned over the next 24 hours amid fears he will miss months of the season.
The centre back worryingly pulled up in agony during the first half of Monday night’s chaotic 4-1 defeat to London rivals Chelsea.
Van de Ven was carried off the field and left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on crutches raising concerns the Holland international faces a long spell on the sidelines.
As is routine with muscular injuries, definitive assessments are not generally made until 48 to 72 hours after the blow was suffered.
Van de Ven will undergo crucial tests over the next couple of days as Spurs medics ascertain the exact extent of the damage.

Ange Postecoglou faces a nervous wait to see how long he will be without Van De Ven for
Nevertheless, there are major concerns that the injury will result in Van de Ven missing months rather than weeks.
If the problem is more severe than a grade two hamstring tear then Van de Ven is likely to miss the rest of 2023 and may even need surgery – a prospect Spurs’ medical team were concerned about on Tuesday.
Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou now faces an anxious wait to discover how long he will be without the Dutchman, who has become such a key player since his arrival from Wolfsburg in the summer.
His blistering pace has enabled Tottenham to play a higher defensive line, a key part of Postecoglou’s team set-up.
But the loss of Van de Ven’s speed could lead to a change of approach from Postecoglou during the period of the defender’s absence.
