The existing contracts of the two players, who are among the biggest names at St James’ Park, are set to expire next summer.
Nine players from Newcastle United may still be under contract at St. James’ Park in their final year of service. The two most well-known individuals among those nine are Callum Wilson and Fabian Schar.
Wilson, who moved to the team from Bournemouth in the summer of 2020 for £20 million, has been a prolific goal scorer, scoring 40 goals in 79 Premier League games. His 19 goals from the previous season, together with his two goals through the first four league games of this one, helped seal Champions League football once more.
In addition, he will turn 32 at the end of February, and he wants to stay longer. “My contract only runs through June 30 of next year,” he stated. I’m having a great time watching football right now in Newcastle.
“My agent and the club will discuss my future at some point, and hopefully it will be with Newcastle,” said the agent.
Schar might be another participant waiting in line for a prolonged stay. The 31-year-old Swiss international has been a significant piece of the team’s furniture since signing a two-year contract in 2022.
In a black and white shirt, he has made 145 appearances across all leagues. Last season, he participated in all but two of Eddie Howe’s team’s games. Jamaal Lascelles is starting his final year as well.
Lascelles has been with the team for ten years after joining in 2014 thanks to his current contract. The shirt has been put on by the 29-year-old 226 times.
