DOGERS HAVE LANDED BLUE JAYS FORMER ALL-STAR PICTHER AFTER A 4 HOUR MEETING IT WAS…..

The Dodgers enter the offseason with a clear need to upgrade their starting pitching. They are expected to do so aggressively through both free agency and on the trade market, so they make sure they don’t have the same issues as last season.

The team has been linked with all sorts of players already this offseason, but there is one intriguing name that could be available on the Toronto Blue Jays. Right-handed pitcher Alek Manoah may be available according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, and the Dodgers should look into him as a flier.

“Some rival executives, speaking on condition of anonymity in order to avoid charges of tampering, say the Blue Jays are open to moving right-hander Alek Manoah. How open remains to be seen.”

Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic

Manoah was spectacular for the Blue Jays in 2022, posting an ERA of 2.24 over 31 starts. It earned him an All-Star appearance and he finished third in the American League Cy Young award race.

Many believed that he could build on that performance this past season, but Manoah took a major step backward. He looked like a shell of himself, posting an ERA of 5.87 over 19 starts. It led to him being demoted to the minor leagues, and the relationship with the Blue Jays started to fracture.

“The relationship between Manoah and the Jays appeared to deteriorate last season when the pitcher regressed from his stellar 2022 campaign. Manoah, 25, twice was sent to the minors and received platelet-rich plasma injections in his right arm to end his season.”

If Manoah is available, it likely wouldn’t cost much to land him. He was terrible in 2023 but could be seen as a bounce-back candidate for next season. The Dodgers love to take on pitchers like Manoah, and he is still only 25 years old with more room to grow.

He could be a low-risk, potentially high-reward signing for LA and he is under team control through 2028. This could be a reason that the Blue Jays keep him this offseason to see how he performs, but the Dodgers should be all over a potential trade if he becomes available.
