Liverpool will head to Tottenham Hotspur this weekend, who have made a promising start under new manager Ange Postecoglou
Liverpool have been warned they will face a fearless Tottenham Hotspur side at the weekend.
The Reds travel to north London on Saturday where they will be hosted by an in-form Spurs outfit. Under new Ange Postecoglou, the club have picked up 14 points from their first six league games and are a much-changed side from the team that struggled under three different managers last season and missed out on the European places.
For all the positivity surrounding Spurs, who have adapted well to life without Harry Kane, they will be coming up against a confident Liverpool side, who have won five of their six Premier League games. The Reds have also been handed a potential early boost as Spurs could be without talisman James Maddison and new forward Brennan Johnson.
However, Glenn Hoddle has warned Liverpool to expect a different type of test from Postecoglou’s side on Saturday. The Spurs legend believes the team has the confidence to go toe-to-toe with the Reds, which could make for an end-to end game
“The players are buying into it. Ange Postecoglou says ‘I don’t care who we are going to play’. He will be the same if he goes to Liverpool and Man City. He will play the same way,” Hoddle said.
“They might take a bit of a tonking one day. They might get beat by three. But I think the players like the fact that he is on the front foot, they are going to press and put lots of bodies forward.
“They have got ability on the ball now. You have got to say there are some really good players. They are going under the radar, at the moment, Tottenham. Ange won’t mind them being under the radar. They are an impressive outfit.”
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 12 meetings with Spurs across all competitions, dating back to 2017. The Reds will hope to extend that streak and continue to put pressure on early league leaders Manchester City.
