The Chicago White Sox added another arm to their bullpen arsenal by signing right-hander John Brebbia, according to multiple reports.  Brebbia’s reported contract is a one-year MLB deal worth $4 million in 2024 with a $6 million mutual option or $1.5 million buyout for 2025. The pact also includes performance bonuses.

The 33-year-old began his career with the St. Louis Cardinals before joining the San Francisco Giants. For his career, Brebbia owns a 3.42 ERA, 1.188 WHIP, and 9.6 K/9 in 299.2 innings across 295 games.White Sox TV job down to three: Will Flemming, Connor McKnight & John Schriffen - Chicago Sun-Times

Last season with the Giants, Brebbia posted a 3.99 ERA and 1.174 WHIP with a career-high 11 K/9 in 38.1 innings. While he’s a reliever through and through, the Boston native made 21 starts in an opener role for the Giants over the past two seasons.

Brebbia joins Erick Fedde, Chris Flexen, and Tim Hill as veteran hurlers to sign big-league deals with the White Sox this offseason. Chris Getz has also ushered in a crop of arms on minor-league deals, including Joe Barlow , Bryce Collins, and Chad Kuhl.White Sox TV job down to three: Will Flemming, Connor McKnight & John Schriffen - Chicago Sun-Times

Should Brebbia produce quality innings for the White Sox in the first half of the 2024 season, he’ll likely be a candidate to be moved at the trade deadline.
