Duo Willy Gnonto and Cree Summerville continue to attract admirers from the Premier League this month and Carlton Palmer believes that a Premier League winger would be the perfect replacement.
Summerville has been on fire for Leeds United this season while Gnonto is struggling to start after a frustrating campaign, which has seen the Italian try to leave – before changing agents and is set to stay.
Indeed, Gnonto has interest from West Ham and Fulham in the top tier. Reports say that he could stay put and sign a new contract – but nothing has been confirmed. Fabrizio Romano says it is up in the air.
A player that has been linked with Leeds is Burnley’s Manuel Benson, who like Gnonto has struggled for game time this season. But he starred in the second tier last season, scoring 14 and creating four more.
Former Leeds midfielder Palmer discussed the reports surrounding Benson, Summerville and Gnonto – with Benson also linked with Southampton. He believes he’d be an ideal replacement for the Leeds duo.
“He’d be an ideal replacement for Gnonto or Summerville, who have Premier League interest. Leeds would be robbing Southampton, rivals for promotion, for one of their top targets,” Palmer told FLW.

Benson was excellent in the Championship last season and would be a real asset for any Championship club for the second half of the season. But right now, do Leeds need him? Gnonto could sign a new deal.
It looks as if he will stay put. Summerville’s future seems less unclear, given he is starting every week and shining for Leeds. Benson would be a top signing but unless one leaves, Leeds do not need him.
