Daniel Farke's Leeds United have now identified Godfrey as a potential loan targetEverton defender Ben Godfrey is a loan target for Leeds United but is expected to move abroad with Genoa now showing interest.

The Italian club is owned by 777 Partners, who are in late stages of takeover of Everton.

The 26-year-old, who has two caps for England, has been on the periphery of Everton’s first team this season owing to the form of Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski.

However, his departure would leave Everton with Michael Keane as their only recognised centre-back cover.

Championship promotion chasers Leeds would like to sign Godfrey on loan but that is not expected to develop with Everton’s current financial plight and interest in the centre-back from abroad.

Everton defender Ben Godfrey has been on the periphery of their squad during the season.

Leeds have lost Luke Ayling to Middlesbrough and returned Djed Spence to Tottenham prior to his move to Genoa. Godfrey can fill-in at full-back but would like the chance to play in his more natural central defensive role.

Atalanta tried to sign him earlier in the window but deemed the financial package too expensive while AC Milan had put him on a list of potential options.
