San Francisco 49ers given huge injury boost ahead of NFC Championship Game against the Detroit Lions
The San Francisco 49ers are set to have one of their stars fit to play on Sunday when they face the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game.
The 49ers narrowly beat the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Round 24-21, but the performance did raise some concerns about the team’s offense and whether it will be enough to land a place in Las Vegas on February 11.
One reason for these concerns was the departure of Deebo Samuel who injured his shoulder in the first half against the Packers and was unable to play for the rest of the game. Since then, fans have been worried as to whether Samuel will feature against the Lions.
In a press conference on Friday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan gave an update on Samuel and revealed that he is now off the injury report, and should be ready to play come kick off at Levi’s Stadium.
“It’s huge,” Shanahan said when discussing Samuel’s availability for Sunday’s game.
“A little scary at the beginning of the week, but the fact he was able to go full go today and no restrictions on him is definitely a good thing for us.”
The 49ers will be taking on a Lions team who are appearing in their first NFC Championship Game since 1992 and will be looking to reach the Super Bowl for the first time in their history.
