MATT Jay is ‘working hard every day’ to try and force his way back into Colchester United’s squad.
That’s the view of U’s head coach Ben Garner, who admits things have not yet ‘clicked’ for the attacker since his move to North Essex from boyhood club Exeter City on a two-and-a-half year deal, in January.
Jay has made only three league appearances for Colchester so far this season, all as a substitute.
And the 27-year-old, who made more than 200 appearances for Exeter after progressing through the youth ranks at St James Park, has been omitted from the U’s last three matchday squads, for League Two games.
