Despite last-minute interventions from Brentford FC and Fulham FC, Saïd Benrahma (28) has arrived in Lyon ahead of a move to Olympique Lyonnais, according to Santi Aouna.
The two West London clubs had become increasingly active on deadline day to hijack the deal due to a delay in Lyon’s attempts to sign Benrahma. Although Lyon and West Ham had agreed on a deal for the player, the Algerian international had yet to agree personal terms with the French club.
Benrahma returns to France
However, the player has now flown to Lyon where he is expected to take his medical in the next few hours before confirmation of a move is made public. This looks to be near the end of a transfer saga that has dragged on for the last few weeks.
Notwithstanding any further twists, it appears the ex-Brentford winger’s time in England is over and he will once again return to Ligue 1 where he began his career for OGC Nice.
