Seattle Seahawks GM John Schneider spoke glowingly of new head coach Mike MacdonaldSeattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider spoke glowingly about the team’s future under Mike Macdonald at the unveiling of his new head coach on Thursday.

The 32-year-old Macdonald spent the season as the Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator before becoming the youngest head coach in the NFL after landing the Seahawks job and replacing 72-year-old Pete Carroll.

Schneider said one of the things that had struck him during the Seahawks’ hiring process was a podcast he was listening to on the topic which told him: ‘It’s all about who’s changing the marketplace.’

Seattle’s GM clearly felt Macdonald was the right man to ‘change the marketplace,’ after watching him build the Ravens defense into one of the most dominant units in the NFL.

Schneider and the Seahawks were also strongly considering Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, but after Johnson decided to remain in his current position for at least another season Seattle’s choice quickly became clear.
