EvertonTurkish giants Besiktas want to sign Everton defender Michael Keane before their February 9th deadline after failing in bids to sign two other Premier League defenders, according to Sabah.

Writing on their website (2 February), the Turkish news outlet report that the Istanbul club made bids to sign Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles and Nottingham Forest ace Joe Worrall on deadline day, but couldn’t agree a deal.

But with the window in Turkey open until February 9th, they have now turned their attentions to signing Keane and are set to sit down at the negotiating table with the Toffees to try and get a deal done despite the window in England being shut.Everton

It’s quite the surprise that any club would try to sign a player from a club where they know that they wouldn’t be able to replace them if they agreed to do it.

But with Keane it may not be so crazy and it’s certainly a plausible deal that could happen if the right offer is made.

Everton have got James Tarkowski, Jarrad Branthwaite and Ben Godfrey who are capable of playing at centre-back and after being eliminated from the FA Cup by Fulham recently there are only 16 games remaining over the course of the season.

The defender is currently third-choice at best but Godfrey has recently found his way back into the team and may have leapfrogged him, and with just 18 months remaining on his contract at Goodison Park it could be the perfect time to move him on.

In the summer he’ll be worth less and while Everton would be able to replace him immediately, they’d earn less money from a sale. With the financial problems at the club, this could be a smart move.
