One of the most-followed NFL storylines of this season is the budding relationship between mega-pop star Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
Former Houston Texans star and current CBS Sports analyst, J.J. Watt, is in support of the relationship and defended the broadcasts for showing Swift frequently at games.
“I think it’s great. I can’t understand why people are so upset about it,” Watt said to US Weekly. “I mean, they show celebrities at games all the time. Don’t act like we don’t show male celebrities at games all the time. I really don’t understand why it’s caused such an uproar.”
Swift has undoubtedly moved the needle in NFL viewership and fandom with many “Swifties” turning their attention to football, and now, the Super Bowl.
The reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs will look to defend their title against the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas. Swift will likely be there, although she does have a quick turnaround from her final Era’s Tour show in Tokyo to get there.
