Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Alan Shearer gave his reaction to his beloved Newcastle United drawing Erik ten Hag‘s side at Old Trafford.
“Tough one” he stated when asked his views on the draw, before continuing to admit you have to face the best to win the cup anyway.
“What a reward for a great result to get Man United away in the next round, but as the boys have said, if we’re going to win it we have to beat the best.”
A huge game which will be played on a Tuesday night at Old Trafford, under the lights, which should give United an immediate head start, with the atmosphere against Palace being great.
Last season was no different with three meetings between the sides resulting in a win apiece along with a draw.
The sides drew 0-0 at Old Trafford, followed by a 2-0 Manchester United win at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.
In April, United went to St James’ Park and were well beaten 2-0 in a one sided game.
