Wrexham AFC is delighted to announce the signing of Wales Under-17 international Annie Small, who joins the Club from the FAW Girls Academy North until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Small, 17, has also been called up to Wales’ Under-19 squad for their friendly double header later this month against Scotland, which will be played behind-closed-doors at Colliers Park.
The midfielder is set to bolster Wrexham’s squad ahead of Phase Two in the Genero Adran Premier, with the Red Dragons currently sat in third place, just two points behind Swansea City.
Wrexham’s new number 14 could make her debut for the Club on Sunday against Cardiff Met, but she will also be able to appear at Under-19 level also.
Speaking about joining the Club, she said: “I’m really excited, and I can’t wait to get started now! It was a big decision for me to make, but the opportunity to develop myself as a player, with the experience of some of the players and staff at the Club was important.
“The squad is already in a good position in the league, so it would be great if I can help them in the Second Phase of the season – I can’t wait to show everyone what I’m like as a player!”
Wrexham AFC Women Manager Steve Dale said: “I’m delighted to add Annie into the squad for the remainder of the season.
She is a player who we have worked with previously before she was selected for the FAW Girls Academy, where she has continued to develop and progress within the international age groups.
“Annie has recently been selected for Wales’ upcoming under-19 camp, which is a testament to the hard work she has put in over the years.
“She is a young hungry player, who will not only add more depth to our squad but also will add a lot of quality to the team. She is a very technical player who will add a lot of composure on the ball and healthy competition in the team.
“We are now going into the second phase of fixtures full of confidence with the addition of our new signings and it will give us the boost to build on our good work in the opening stages of the season.”
