After a long wait following a chaotic deadline day loan move from West Ham United to Lyon, Saïd Benrahma was able to represent the Ligue 1 side for the first-time.

He started the game, perhaps to the surprise of a few, and managed close to 60 minutes on the pitch in what was eventually a 2-1 away win for his side against Montpellier

The West Ham loanee may not have scored a provided an assist, but he produced a good display, which he was very happy with, saying as much after the game in quotes relayed by Goal France.

He said: “I couldn’t have got off to a better start. I played about 60 minutes and I’m really happy. I wanted to be out there, wanted to play. With three wins in three games, we need to keep the momentum going. I felt good, even though I still don’t know the team very well, but I’m happy.

“I’m getting to know my teammates and I think there will be good things to come. I think we deserved the win, because we had chances and we controlled the ball.”

The fact he was playing 60 minutes in a league game was a bit of a change from his time at West Ham this season, where he only managed that twice since the 2-1 win against Luton Town back in early September.

The Algeria international had gone from key player under David Moyes last season to a rotation option this campaign, which led to his paid loan move to Lyon with an option to buy included.
