Bashir Humphreys in demand after impressive loan as Chelsea faced with contract decision | Evening StandardHead coach Luke Williams says Swansea City will not take any risks with the fitness of Bashir Humphreys following the defender’s injury against Leeds United in midweek.

Humphreys was withdrawn during the second half of the defeat to the Yorkshire club, with Kyle Naughton replacing him.

“Bashir has made a decent recovery, but we have to be really cautious as he had a few issues after the game so we need to look after him properly,” said Williams.

“There are a few tired bodies with so many tough games coming so close together, but overall we are pretty good.”

Swansea continue to be without the likes of Josh Key, Harry Darling, Jamal Lowe, Harrison Ashby and Azeem Abdulai, while Josh Ginnelly, Liam Walsh and Sam Parker are longer-term absentees.Bashir Humphreys in demand after impressive loan as Chelsea faced with contract decision | Evening Standard

None of them will be available to face the Tractor Boys, but Williams says some of them are making good progress towards returning soon.

“I came to Fairwood before the game on Tuesday to put on a session with the fitness guys and the players who are working on returning to play,” he said.Bashir Humphreys in demand after impressive loan as Chelsea faced with contract decision | Evening Standard

“It was a tough session, so I was really happy to see them out on the pitch and I don’t think they are too far away.

“They will not be ready to go for Saturday, but they are making good progress.”
