west hamAndy Townsend has suggested that David Moyes’ sacking at West Ham is only a matter of time after a string of poor results and a growing frustration at London Stadium.

The Hammers are without a victory since a 2-0 win against Arsenal in December, being knocked out of the FA Cup by Bristol City, dropping points to Sheffield United and being thrashed by the Gunners and Manchester United since then.

The former Chelsea and Aston Villa midfielder believes there is an “inevitable” feeling around the calls for Moyes’ sacking at West Ham, and is interested in who could replace him.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Tuesday (20 February, 9:13am), Townsend said: “I’ve been to watch West Ham a lot since Moyes has been in charge. There are times that you’re watching and you’re thinking it’s not great – it is a bit ordinary-looking.west ham

“He brings what he brings and that is what has served him well, whether people like it or not. There’s that feeling of inevitability that West Ham are going to make a change, and it will be very interesting to see which manager they go for.”

Many Hammers fans will hope that Townsend is spot on with his prediction about Moyes’ future at the club.

The manager has experienced a lot of highs and lows at London Stadium but is entirely in a deep trough right now, with no signs of being able to dig his way out of this one.

Of course, West Ham lifted the Europa Conference League under the guidance of the current manager, but it is not possible to build a whole career on that one moment, with the Hammers now faltering in all competitions.

David Moyes has largely experienced a successful second spell in charge of West Ham United but things have taken a turn for the worse.

Having been in with a shot of a fourth-place finish in the Premier League earlier this season, the London side are now much closer to the bottom half of the table and it could only be a matter of time until they sink to that level.

Fans will also be worried about their upcoming Europa League fixture, with the last-16 draw set to take place on Friday 23 February. Without a win in eight matches in all competitions, it would be rather easy to predict their next few results over the coming weeks.
