Don Hutchison has told David Moyes to “walk out” on West Ham United if the fans are against him following defeat to Nottingham Forest.
The Hammers are now winless in eight games and have lost their last three consecutive games by an aggregate score of 11-0.
Fans unfurled a “Moyes Out” banner at the City Ground after defeat to Nottingham Forest most recently, with fans chanting that he would be “sacked in the morning“, and after a fan video emerged online of fans calling for him to leave ex-player and pundit Hutchison urged him to leave as fans have forgotten how bad it was before him.
“If I was David Moyes and this opinion was the majority, I would walk out on the club tomorrow,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (19 February).
“Don’t fans remember the times the club was in the s— under Pellegrini? Moyes had West Ham in 5/6th (lost Paqueta), topped the Europa League group and won a European trophy.”
West Ham United to sack David Moyes?
There is an argument going both ways for this decision, and there are people on both sides of the fence about whether or not West Ham should sack the manager.
But it should also be noted that there is a third option which is to not sack him, but just to allow his contract to expire but announce it in advance so that everyone can pull together for the final part of the season.
The Irons are not in immediate danger of relegation or anything like that, and are still in the knockout stages of European competition, so it could yet be a successful campaign.
