Rangers forward Fabio Silva needs to start producing “more quality” in a Light Blue shirt to live up to expectations, according to Barry Ferguson.
The 21-year-old joined Philippe Clement’s ranks in Glasgow on loan from Wolves in January for the second half of the season but has only managed to find the net once in his first six Scottish Premiership appearances for the Gers.
While Ferguson has conceded that it can take some players longer to adapt to the Scottish game than others, he has challenged Silva to do more going forward, especially as he cost Wolves a massive fee originally.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (21 February, 16:10) he said: “I want to see a bit more from him, there’s no doubt about that. In terms of his workrate, he’ll work hard for the team, but I’m expecting a bit more quality.
“Maybe that will come, it can take some players a bit more time to settle in. You’re not a bad player if you sign for over £30million, but hopefully, in the coming weeks he’ll show a little bit more going forward.”

With Danilo and Kemar Roofe sidelined through injury, it has fallen on Cyriel Dessers to lead the Gers line week in and week out and after a slow start at Ibrox, the Nigerian forward has begun to find his feet and impress at the top end of the pitch.
