Brighton & Hove Albion v Everton FC - Premier LeagueEverton’s situation at the moment is an extremely confusing one, trying to make sense of a financial minefield that the Premier League has plunged football into.

Many have sought to shed further light on the reasons behind their four-point remuneration, but as of yet it remains unclear how that might affect their second alleged breach.

That is likely owed to the frustrating ambiguity of their rules, with which the Toffees and now Nottingham Forest will be tried against.

However, football finance expert Stefan Borson has all least sought to offer his unflinching verdict on the big story in world football.Brighton & Hove Albion v Everton FC - Premier League

What finance expert Stefan Borson had to say about Everton’s PSR breach

Speaking live on talkSPORT (27/02, 10:55 am), he spoke to Simon Jordan and Jim White about Everton, Forest, Chelsea and Manchester City, offering his fiscal wisdom on four very different topics.

However, focusing on the former to start, White pulled no punches with his straightforward question: ‘What do you expect from the second charge for Everton in terms of the likelihood of a further points deduction?’

Borson had the following to say: ‘What, you want a straight answer? So look, this thing about double jeopardy is wrong. It’s not double jeopardy. There’s a question of natural justice in taking a three-year period, of which you’ve been punished for two already, and the independent commission will have no difficulty whatsoever understanding what’s fair in that context and understanding that they shouldn’t be punished twice for the same period.
