Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto.
The 23-year-old has been in impressive form this season scoring three goals and picking up 11 assists across all competitions. His performances have attracted the attention of the top clubs and Fabrizio Romano has revealed to CaughtOffside that Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool are keen on him.
Apparently, Tottenham insiders believe that they need a quality winger in the summer and they have identified the Portuguese attacker as the ideal target. Meanwhile, Liverpool have scouted him multiple times this season as well.
Romano said: “Another Premier League winger to watch could be Pedro Neto. I’m sure Arsenal like the player because already two years ago, they included Pedro Neto in their shortlist and Arsenal work like this – when they appreciate a player, they keep following him. Even if they were not able to make it happen two years ago, I’m sure they’re still keeping close eye to Pedro Neto.
“Tottenham are worth keeping an eye on too, because someone at the club believes that they need a new winger in the summer, so Pedro Neto could be a fantastic solution. He knows the league very well so this could be an important factor but also they believe that he could be a good player for the idea of football wanted by Angel Postecoglou.
“So I think these two clubs will be interested in Pedro Neto, and I would also keep a close eye on Liverpool – let’s see who’s going to be their manager, let’s see who’s going to be their director and what kind of strategy they will have. But Pedro Neto has also been scouted by Liverpool in recent months and years.”
It will be interesting to see which club comes forward with a concrete proposal to sign the player in the summer.
Neto will certainly be excited about the possibility of joining clubs like Tottenham and Liverpool. He will want to compete at the highest level and push for major trophies.
Both Tottenham and Liverpool could secure Champions League qualification for the next season and they will be attractive destinations for the player.
However, Wolves are unlikely to sanction his departure for a knockdown price and therefore the two clubs might have to pay a premium for him.
Spurs could certainly use a versatile winger like him who will add creativity at goals to the side. The 23-year-old is an expert when it comes to opening up deep defences with his passing, vision and trickery. He could thrive in the attacking system under Ange Postecoglou.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz as the only natural wingers at the club. They need more depth in that department as well and Neto would be a solid, long-term investment.
As far as Arsenal are concerned, Mikel Arteta has not been able to rotate players like Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka often. The Gunners need more depth in the wide areas if they want to do well across multiple competitions. Neto would be a quality acquisition for them.
