Last week the first tournaments in the new season of the DPNZ ProTour were played. Both Kayden Milne and Mark Cleaver managed to win a title on the New Zealand darts tour.
On February 24 and 25, the first two tournaments of the DPNZ ProTour 2024 were played. A total of 12 tournaments will be played this year as part of the DPNZ Tour. The number one in the ranking at the end of the season may participate in the next edition of the World Darts Championship. This is a change from previous years when the New Zealand World Championship qualifier was determined by a qualifying tournament.
The first tournament of the new season was won by 23-year-old Kayden Milne. After coming through the group stage undefeated, he reached the final with victories over Darren Dummigan and John Hurring, among others. With a result of 7-4 Milne won the final from Ben Robb, taking his second title on the DPNZTour in his career.
The second tournament of the weekend was won by Mark Cleaver. Cleaver made it through the group stage undefeated and then reached the final with wins over Harrison Donegan and Robb. His opponent in the final was veteran Warren Parry. With a 7-3 win in the final, Cleaver took his second final victory on the DPNZTour.
Mark Cleaver tops the ranking after the first weekend with 32 points. Second and third place are currently held by Robb and Milne, respectively. For the past three years, it was Ben Robb who travelled from New Zealand to Alexandra Palace.
