Former Everton chief Keith Wyness has revealed that two US parties are prepared to hijack the takeover deal with 777 Partners.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – revealed that he believes a takeover hijack will take place.

Miami-based investors 777 Partners agreed a £500million takeover deal with Toffees chairman Farhad Moshiri in September.

Exclusive agreement may be stumbling block in Everton takeover hijack

When asked whether he believes the Everton takeover will be hijacked, Wyness said: “I do believe it’s going to happen.”

They are still awaiting approval from the Premier League to complete the deal with concerns growing about their ability to source funding.

As revealed by Football Insider, 777 Partners are set for crunch talks with the Premier League as the takeover enters the final stages.

Two major American sporting groups have been linked so far.

But again, I think it would be difficult to see how they can really engage with Everton at the moment while 777 still have this exclusive agreement in place.

That’s the problem any other potential buyer is going to have – they’ll be working off probably old numbers or things that they can put together in the media and maybe just sort of declare an interest at some stage.

But I would imagine it’s difficult for Everton and Moshiri’s advisors to be able to actually interact with potential buyers just yet.
