Leicester City v Sunderland - Sky Bet ChampionshipSunderland host Leicester City in the Championship on Tuesday evening.

Sunderland welcome league leaders Leicester City to the Stadium of Light on Tuesday night, though both teams go into this game in poor veins of form.

The Black Cats have lost their last four in the Championship now after losing 1-0 away at Norwich City over the weekend, with interim boss Mike Dodds having lost two from two.

And runaway leaders Leicester have now lost their last three, losing 2-1 at home to relegation candidates QPR last time out and seeing Ipswich Town in 2nd close the gap to just three points.

When Sunderland met Leicester City at the King Power Stadium earlier in the season, the Foxes earned a 1-0 win thanks to a James Justin first half goal.

David Prutton predicts return to winning ways for Leicester City

Leicester City have been at the top of the Championship table throughout. At times they’ve had leads at the top totaling more than 10 points, but Leeds United in 3rd are now just five points behind Enzo Maresca’s side.

And against a Sunderland side who are steadily slipping out of the play-off picture and towards the bottom half, Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted a 2-1 win for Leicester City, writing:Leicester City v Sunderland - Sky Bet Championship

“Sunderland are drifting, badly. Changing manager has not helped and it is four defeats in a row now. A season that started with so much promise is dwindling, and they are without Jack Clarke for the foreseeable as well.

“That should all give Leicester some hope. They have lost three in a row, and are just five clear of Leeds in third heading into this one. What seemed like a procession at one stage is getting a little edgy. But I think this is where they get back to winning ways, because Sunderland are in no kind of form.”

Bad to worse for Sunderland and Mike Dodds

After Sunderland sacked Michael Beale last month and named the well-liked Dodds in charge until the end of the season, there was a definite feel-good factor among fans.

But so far it’s not been a pleasant change with Sunderland now falling nine points behind Hull City in 6th, after being a point ahead of them and in the top six themselves just a few weeks ago.
