Everton FC v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier LeagueEverton, having only just earned success in regaining four points from their appeal, now have to instantly turn their attention to their second PSR breach.

It has been a harsh and unforgiving season, one completely shrouded in financial turmoil.

Sean Dyche will just be glad to see the conclusion of this campaign, hopefully with their Premier League status still intact.

However, that is a task that could be made much harder if they are to receive another sanction late on in the term.

What’s the latest on Everton’s PSR battle?

The Athletic have sought to update fans on the current state of play regarding this ongoing PSR debacle, which has dominated the division and enforced a deathly silent January transfer window.

Teams are terrified to spend out of fear of what the Premier League are doing, wildly enforcing punishments without a set group of statutes with which to follow.

Fortunately, there is hope that the second appeal will be far more successful than the first, with Paddy Boyland now writing: ‘It appears Everton’s argument around the impact of the war in Ukraine is stronger this time around.

‘For their 2021-22 case, they argued that they were in negotiations to bring forward a stadium naming rights sponsorship with Alisher Usmanov’s USM Holdings worth £10m per year, but were unable to prove that the deal had already been agreed. This time, they can point to several existing sponsorship deals with Usmanov-linked companies that were suspended indefinitely due to the war in Ukraine.’Everton FC v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League

Everton and Nottingham Forest are in deep trouble

Although it may be Luton Town currently occupying the third and final relegation spot, they are arguably in the most comfortable position out of those battling for safety.

After all, even if they are four points adrift, it still remains all in their own hands.
