A fan has taken to social media to vent his frustration after the refereeing controversy in the clash between Liverpool and Tottenham saw him miss out on £9,500.
At the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday Diaz looked to have given his side the lead when his goal in the first-half was controversially ruled out for offside following a VAR review.
It later emerged that the decision was a result of a miscommunication between the on-field officials and those on VAR.
Darren England was the man tasked with VAR duties for the match, with Dan Cook acting as assistant VAR.
After the on-field decisions disallowed Diaz’s strike, England checked for offside thinking that the on-field decision was to award the goal.

The PGMOL later acknowledged that the decision was a result of ‘significant human error’ and should have been overturned
Viewers at home felt that the check was unusually quick. The quick check though was because England felt that Diaz was clearly onside, and told the referee ‘check complete’.
In doing so, he effectively told referee Simon Hooper that the on-field call was the correct one.
Liverpool later received an apology from PGMOL for the mishap, with the organisation later releasing a statement acknowledging a ‘significant human error occurred’ for the goal to be disallowed.
However, the news will come as little solace to the punter who missed on a nearly five-figure payout as Diaz’s goal was ruled out.
The social media user revealed that Diaz scoring was the only leg of the six-fold accumulator not come in, resulting in them missing out on a £9,500 win from a stake of just £10.
The user had otherwise correctly predicted that both Cody Gakpo and Son Heung-min would get on the scoresheet, and Yves Bissouma and Alexis Mac Allister would be booked during the game.
Following the game, the user cheekily tagged James Maddison to compensate the lost winnings along with his Spurs teammates.
