Redknapp had two spells managing the south coast club, from 2002 to 2004 and then from 2005 to 2008, with a controversial move to rivals Southampton sandwiched between the two stints.

Pompey are currently riding high at the top of League One, with a six-point advantage over second-placed Bolton Wanderers.

ohn Mousinho’s side have 10 games remaining in the league, over which they will be hoping that they can regain their place in the Championship after a 12-year absence.

The ex-boss has had his fair share of success at Fratton Park, leading the club to promotion and delivering the famous FA Cup triumph in 2008.

The 77-year-old has been weighing up his former club’s chances of finally climbing back into the second tier, and potentially clinching silverware in the process.
