Leicester City's Jamie Vardy celebrates after scoring the first goal of the game against Birmingham CityLeicester City striker Jamie Vardy won’t be fazed if Leeds United overtake the Foxes this weekend, despite leading the Championship league table for the majority of the season.

Daniel Farke’s side could overtake the Foxes are the top of the table should they beat Millwall at the New Den on Sunday, with Leicester in FA Cup action against Chelsea. It means an enforced break from the league for Enzo Maresca’s side, with not back in action until they travel to face Bristol City on March 29.

However, experienced frontman Vardy, who scored both goals at Leicester drew 2-2 with Hull City on Saturday, feels the break comes at a good time. The Foxes have won just once in the last five games, beating Sunderland 1-0 after losing three on the bounce before the draw at Hull.Leicester City's Jamie Vardy celebrates after scoring the first goal of the game against Birmingham City

Their form is in direct contrast to Leeds, who have only dropped two league points since the turn of the year. Friday night’s 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday took Farke’s men to within three points of Leicester, and a two-goal win over Millwall would mean Leeds’ goal difference is better than the East Midlands side.

“It’s another point forward in the right direction,” Vardy said of the draw at Hull. “For us, we take it as a positive. We have a point and now we just look forward to the FA Cup and then a little break before Bristol City.Leicester City's Jamie Vardy celebrates after scoring the first goal of the game against Birmingham City

“It will give us time to reflect on how the period has gone up to the international break and what does need doing then in the final games coming up. It’ll be good to refresh and have a little rest. For the international lads, it is all about playing their football but making sure they come back fit and not injured.”
