The Sun’s Alan Nixon has reported on his Patreon channel that Leeds United teenager Charlie Crew is becoming embroiled in a tug of war between Wales and England – as he nears his first senior Wales cap.
Crew, 17, trained with the senior Wales side in the last international break and won his first two caps for the U21 side. This season, he has been a regular in our second string – captaining the 21’s last time out.
Our first Premier League International Cup game – a 2-0 win over French side Nice, with goals coming from Charlie Allen and Sean McGurk. Things are starting to get exciting for Crew, breakthrough soon.
Nixon says as much. He reports that it is expected among those at Wales that a senior cap is in the offing sooner rather than later, under Rob Page. Another Welsh star within Daniel Farke’s Leeds ranks.

One of those – alongside Dan James and Joe Rodon – is Ethan Ampadu, who said he is “excited” by youngster Crew. But England have caught whiff of Crew’s incredible potential, and want the talent.
Scouts from The FA are said to have clocked that a number of Crew’s family are from England and that allows him to qualify for both countries. Nixon says it would be a bit of a ‘prize’ for Wales to get him.
Especially, at this stage – given he is so close to a place in the senior Wales side. A decision to make for Crew then, on the horizon. Hopefully he can continue to shine in a Leeds shirt, and impress boss Farke.
