Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has just handed Leeds United a big boost in their hopes of signing Joe Rodon permanently.Joe Rodon: 10 facts on our new signing - Leeds United

Rodon is currently on a season-long-loan at Elland Road from Spurs but no permanent option was ever negotiated between the two clubs upon his arrival in August.

However, there are growing calls for Leeds to sign him on a full-time basis, with his performances this season having been key to Daniel Farke’s side’s push for automatic promotion.

Spurs are seemingly keen on letting him leave permanently in the summer as the 26-year-old is some way down the pecking order, and looks likely to fall even further amid Postecoglou’s latest comments.

In Cristian Romero, Micky van De Ven and Radu Dragusin, Spurs already have three top young centre-backs in their squad, but Postecoglou has told Football London they will look to sign another in the summer.Joe Rodon: 10 facts on our new signing - Leeds United

Postecoglou says Spurs will sign another centre-back

He said: “If you’re saying ‘is it an area we can strengthen?’ With all these things it’s about trying to strengthen the group as much as anything else. If you think about when I first arrived, we had maybe six or seven centre-backs at the club.

“So it’s not just numbers. It’s more about the ability of those players to play the football we want and to fit in to what we’re trying to build here.Joe Rodon: 10 facts on our new signing - Leeds United

“I think it is an area of the park we will look to strengthen, but I think we’ll look to strengthen all areas of the park come the end of the season. That’s planning that’s already underway, and other people are in charge of it at the moment.”
