Space in Leicester City and Ipswich Town minds will not be occupied rent-free by league leaders Leeds United over this international break. That’s the view of Daniel James after the Whites nailed down the top of the Championship, unchallenged for 12 days.

Just one point separates the Whites, the Foxes and the Tractor Boys with less than seven weeks until the end of the season. United’s nearest rivals do, though, have to live with the fact Daniel Farke’s side have completed a 17-point turnaround since the turn of the year.

While he is delighted to see the side atop the second tier for the first time this term, James only sees confidence in the dressing rooms of their fellow top-three contenders. Watford on Good Friday will be the ideal return to action in the winger’s eyes.

Asked if United’s new placing would have a psychological impact on their rivals, James said: “No, I don’t think so. All the teams at the top are full of confidence.

“I don’t think they’re going to think about that. They’ve (Leicester) obviously got the game in hand. We’ve got a tough fixture when we get back, a Friday night game again, straight away, and it’ll be good for us to have an early game and just be confident going into it.”
