West HamJustin Allen has blasted West Ham owner David Sullivan for his “ridiculous” comments over the financial package for the EFL.

Writing on The Sun website on Sunday (24 March), the journalist accused the Hammers chief of showing “complete ignorance” to the fact the Premier League doesn’t own the English game after he likened the top flight to Tesco and the EFL to a small supermarket

He added Sullivan failed to mention that football league and non-league clubs are “vital” to the health of the Premier League, highlighting how Irons stars Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio both started out in non-league before eventually earning moves to East London.

David Sullivan comments not good look for West Ham

While Sullivan is obviously entitled to his own opinion, many believe he showed just how out of touch he is with English football following his controversial comments.West Ham

The Premier League clubs have a duty to help out those sides who are currently in less fortunate positions as it should be a collective effort to strengthen our game.

There is no doubt that we have the best footballing pyramid in the world and we should be doing all we can to help protect it, rather than the lucky few just looking to line their own pockets.

It’s not a good look for anyone associated with the Hammers for the owner to be so public with his comments and it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

It appears as though Sullivan isn’t going to change his mind on this issue but, hopefully, he doesn’t get his way and a deal can be reached to help all 92 clubs prosper.
