Bournemouth star Tyler Adams scored a Goal of the Year contender in the USMNT’s 2-0 win over Mexico in the CONCACAF Nations League final.
The midfielder received the ball from former Leeds teammate Weston McKennie and fired to Mexican keeper Guillermo Ochoa’s right from a distance, giving the United States a 1-0 lead. However, the goal was Adams’ last contribution to the game.
Adams was substituted at half-time shortly after his wonder strike as a precautionary measure. The Cherries star has not long returned from injury. “I’m not scoring goals like that all the time, but I’m happy I can hit one like that today,” said Adams.
Adams, who made his first start for the national team in 475 days, added: “People have a lot of question marks about this, about that. But to see what we do week in, week out when we have the opportunity to work together, we continue to grow.
