Everton face an injury-hit Newcastle United tonight at St James’ Park, with the Toffees hoping to take advantage of the Magpies’ fitness woes to claim a crucial three points.

Newcastle came back from 3-1 down on Saturday to beat West Ham 4-3, but alongside the trio of goals conceded in that game, at full-time manager Eddie Howe had a hat-trick of injury concerns to think about.

Jamaal Lascelles, Tino Livramento, and Miguel Almiron were all enforced changes at the weekend and had their names added to the already troublesome nine-man list of unavailable players.

It’s uncertain who Howe will be able to call upon for the visit of Everton, and the ECHO provides a round-up of the injury situation.

Sven Botman

The Dutch centre back aggravated an initial tear in his knee in the FA Cup defeat to Manchester City, and now has a long road to recovery having undergone surgery on his ACL.

Expected return date: Late 2024/early 2025.

Jamaal Lascelles

Another defender to be struck down by an ACL issue after going off injured against West Ham after only 16 minutes. He is set to have surgery this week.
