Everton are almost certainly now set for another points deduction after the release of their latest accounts, believes Kieran Maguire.

The football finance expert from the University of Liverpool told i News (2 April) it is now “pretty inevitable” that a second points sanction will be the result from the recently concluded independent commission hearing.

Additionally, the fact that the total loss is almost double the amount from the previous year’s accounts it will also mean Everton “lose any potential mitigation for a positive trend in their PSR figures” suggesting this would have been viewed dimly by the panel.

Supporters, much like Sean Dyche, would no doubt have hoped that after the first breach the club would have been moving in the right direction in future periods, especially since the team is proof that net spending there has certainly not been plentiful.
