Danny Murphy says Leicester City and Leeds United are showing ‘anxiety’ as the Championship promotion race heats up.
The Foxes were beaten 1-0 at Millwall on Tuesday night and Leeds failed to capitalise when they were held to a 0-0 draw by Sunderland. While both currently reside in the top two, Ipswich Town will go to the summit if they beat Watford tonight.
All three clubs have had their wobbles, with the Tractor Boys losing two of their last five matches, City suffering five Championship losses since mid-February and Leeds failing to win three of their last four.
But Murphy believes the pressure is very much on at the King Power Stadium and at Elland Road, where both clubs ‘desperately’ want to return to the top flight.
“The Championship’s incredible, isn’t it? The ability for anyone to beat anybody is more prevalent in that league than any other, that’s for sure,” Murphy told the White and Jordan show on talkSPORT.
“I was surprised Leeds drew, but that shows some nerves because Sunderland have been struggling. That was a game you expect them to win.
